Discovery: Global Device Settings Options

Agent Password Protection Protect the Agent from inadvertent uninstall by requiring a password for this action.
Cortex Ability to globally disable Cortex on all devices. This allows stopping any Cortex task from running on all devices. By default, this option is enabled.
File Index

This option allows configuring the files scan process on a device. For the scan process files and folders are indexed and a file database is created on a device.

'Re-index' option allows regenerating this database according to the predetermined time frame:

  • Re-Index Day of week - Select days when you will run re-index: all, none, or a specific day of the week. Once this option is configured you will need to set Re-index Time of day.
  • Re-index Time of Day - After you have selected days for re-index you will need to specify at what time exactly re-index runs on the selected days.
  • Re-Index interval - This setting is only applied if you don't have 'Re-Index Day of week' enabled. Re-index process can be run every X days and even hours.
  • Idle index stop time. The indexing process uses resources and takes time to run. This option allows stopping the indexing process after it goes idle.
  • 'Add an exclusion' option allows excluding of either a file, file type, or folder from the scan process.
Inventory

Assign a GUID to a newly discovered device based on the unique device fingerprint.

The Device ID is regenerated after 10 or more hardware changes in the inventory, although the Name of the Device remains the same.

We recommend disabling the 'Unique Device Fingerprint' option to avoid device duplicating.

Nmap Discovery

Enable or disable Nmap during the discovery process.

Nmap is a tool for network discovery and security auditing.

Nmap provides multiple features for probing computer networks, including host discovery, service and operating system detection.

You can customize your scan by specifying Nmap options in the 'Switches' line. The scan result will list all the newly detected devices under 'IOT Devices' in the Devices section.

Remote Control

The following Remote Control settings can be configured:

  • User message - Create a customized prompt message for a user.
  • Default video encoding options:
  • Auto
  • Force software only - If you choose this option hardware encoding will be disabled. Can be used only on live devices.
  • Screen Capture options
  • Auto
  • Desktop Capture. Less effective option. It uses more resources, and it's speed is limited by 10 frames per second. This is used by default on Windows 7
  • Mirror Driver. Capturing screen with mirror driver is a very high-performance method.
  • Disable WebRTC. Web Real Time Communications is an open-source communication technology for mobile and desktop platforms built on APIs that require no plugins. This option is temporaly unavailable.
