Column Sets

A column set is a list of the unique inventory attributes that will be displayed within the 'Devices grid' in the 'Devices' section.

Important Information

The column set will show for any of the various containers in 'Devices', such as sites, queries, or groups.

The 'Default' column set is the first pre-designed column set in the console. It can be edited or overridden with a new, custom column set.

Before you begin, you will need a Syxsense Manage account that has 'Admin' permissions.

Click on 'Settings'  in the top right corner of the screen.

Click on 'Column Sets' in order to manage the column sets.

You can then carry out the following:

  • Create a new column set
  • Edit an existing column set
  • Copy and paste an existing column set
  • Delete a column set
Click  from the top to In order to create a new column set.
Specify the name that reflects the information that will be displayed when the column set is used, give a description (if applicable).
To specify the attribute which you would like to be displayed as a part of the column set, select it from the inventory list on the left and click  button.
To remove an attribute select it to highlight it then click the  button.

For certain attributes, you may need to extend the width of the column to show the full value name, or decrease the width for shorter values.

Use the  button to set this parameter.

Be aware the certain attributes will potentially cause each device to be listed many times whenever the column set is used, an example of such as an attribute would be 'Software Name'.

You should avoid using attributes that have a 'one to many' relationship, if possible; however, to support some of these multiple values, the  option can be leveraged to combine the data by:

  • Minimum Value
  • Maximum Value
  • Count the Values (sum)
  • Concat the Values (separated with commas)

The 'Label' column will override the attribute header, such as displaying 'Hostname' instead of the default 'Device Name'.

Simply double-click into the text field and enter your value.

To move a column to the desired position, select it and use the arrow keys to move it up or down. Drop-down TitleDrop-down Title

Click on  when you have finished creating the column set. The column set can now be used in any area of the console that allows you to select a column set.
