Create Hardware Driver Wizard

Use the Hardware Driver Wizard to upload and configure custom drivers for deployment. This process ensures new or updated hardware drivers are properly classified and available for targeting.

Prerequisites

A valid driver installer file (.exe, .msi, etc.).

Guided walk-through: Uploading a Custom Patch

Open Create Patch Wizard

Go to Vulnerabilities > Advanced > Custom Patches > Click '+Create' >  New Hardware Driver Definition

This will open the  Wizard.

Select File

Choose how to upload your driver file:

  • Choose Installer from your Absolute Cloud: use an installer already stored in your organization's cloud repository.
  • Choose an installer from your device: upload a file directly from your computer.

Once selected, the file will appear in the Selected Package field at the bottom of the screen.

Import Information

The system will analyze the uploaded package and attempt to extract basic information such as the file name, version, or vendor.

In some cases, this step may be skipped or auto-completed based on file type.

Advanced Options

This step gives you the option to finalize the driver configuration.

Click 'Finish' to save and make the driver available for deployment with default settings.

Click 'Configure Advanced Options' to open the full editor and define prerequisites and metadata.

When you choose Configure Advanced Options, the Advanced Editor opens. Use this to provide additional context and control for the patch:

  • Name: Auto-filled from the file name; can be edited.
  • Type: Drivers.
  • Vendor / URL / Description: Add metadata for tracking or reference.
  • Version / Target Version: Specify the versioning of the driver.
  • CVSS / Severity / Security Family: not aplicable to driver.
  • Controlled Content - Enable the Controlled Content option if the uploaded file (e.g., driver, patch, or script) is expected to become part of a pre-approved content library.
  • Other Settings:
  • Requires Reboot: Indicates whether a system restart is required after installation.
  • Allow User Interaction: Specify if user interaction is necessary during installation.
  • Weaponized / Public Aware / Counter Measure / Auto Fix: not aplicable to driver.
  • Repairable: not aplicable to driver.
  • CVE(s): not aplicable to driver.
  • OS Type: Select the target operating system for the driver.

Click 'Save' to apply your changes.
